Memorial day weekend at the Hood

Mama loves baby. Perfect day."I just love playing in the rocks sooooo much......
"...I took a bite."
Silas loves the waves and water...we found it too freezing to let the tide touch
our toes, but Si couldn't get enough!
BIG wild King Salmon- yay Thadd for catching such a giant!
Dinner is served!
Other happenings at H.C.- Silas jumped out of his Bumbo seat. Yes. Strong little bugger climbed straight out of it and landed on his forehead. He didn't shed a tear. That's our boy! Thank God we weren't breaking the rules and leaving the bumbo on a table or something! Anyways, that's the end of that helpful chair!
Of course it had to rain on us in our dopey tent but what a good God we serve, it rained all night and was lovely all day! Thank you Thadd for putting up that tarp before bed!
Also, Silas rode in the boat for the first time! My dad has multiple aluminum boats with outboard motors and we have races in the sunset every evening when the waves calm down. So fun! Silas was a hoot in his mondo life-jacket! He enjoyed the ride almost as much as he enjoyed letting the engine and the wind lull him to sleep in my arms.

A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!

My heart...

Years ago a dear dear girlfriend gave me the Tiffany's heart necklace. I adore it and wear it all the time. Silas has noticed. This week he has been taking every opportunity to play with it. This means a lot of scratches and even more slobber. But each time I hold him close, he grabs my heart. I can't and won't stop him.
I am in love with Silas.
Silas is in love with my heart.
My heart is glad.

SWIMMING WITH MAMA!

What a gorgeous weekend! On Friday, Silas and I caught some rays with Auntie Lor and Cousin Ethan in Bubba and Mimi's backyard. Itty-bitty Beckham enjoyed lounging in Laura's belly as we tried to tan our toes and help our kiddos in and out of the ICE cold pool! Buddy Si was such a good sport! He didn't complain about the temperature of the scorching sun or the freezing water! Whose child is this?! We donned some sunscreen, dropped the diaper and in he went, cute as can be! He swam in up to his shoulders. Jesus we praise you for such lovely weather, little boys and B.B.Q.!

Hood Rats

It may seem too late to post about last weekend. However, Thadd was asked/begged to lead worship at Mars Hill Eastside this Sunday very last minute and has been on the computer a LOT compiling arrangements, recording demos and communicating with his band. Fine with me since I'm not much of an internet savvy surfer, but I really have not had the time to do anything but check my emails...hence the "better late than never" update on our Hood adventure!

After a great breakfast with dear Jessi, Elias and Glory and a fabulous hair cut and color (pink! just highlights-don't be freakin!), we took off to our grandparent's cabin on Hood Canal. Since I HAD to get my hair done, we definitely got a late start, which meant rush hour. On a Friday. Traffic galore. We weren't thrilled to be stopped for so long but each time I got frustrated I just looked in the mirror at my new do and the joy lasted me for about a mile. Then I had to peek again! Yep! Still pink! Still smiling! Anyways, the drive was beautiful once we were along the canal. Always is. We pulled in, greeted the fam, and rushed to unload the car and set up the tent, set up the pack and play IN the tent (yeeaah...), and feed our angel before it got too dark.

Back at last to our favorite spot! The point of the weekend was to work to repair the damage caused be the flooding last November. It was a fun time, a hard time, and apparently Silas thought it was anything but naptime. As a mama that makes for a crazy stressful time. No naps in three days. GREAT!

We got to celebrate sweet Ethan's 2nd Birthday with all the party essentials, and wake up Sunday to a lovely Mother's Day. My First. When I woke up first thing I found a cute card on my pillow. I could hardly open my eyes but I forced myself to because I could hardly wait to read the awesome card Thadd got for me. It was precious. It was really a great day to just spend time with Silas. Holding him, rocking him, feeding him and laughing with him. We got to walk on the beach and play in the tent! So fun to experience the Hood with Si. I really enjoyed taking care of him there as I always do. Lord THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making me a mother. This job could not be more rewarding. I love my son.

Welcome to the Hood, Shnooks! May there be many more adventures...I can't wait to watch you grow up and learn to love all the wonders of Hood Canal! Long live. Thanks T & B!

More like daddy every day!

Up and at 'em for early fishing! Silas was obviously
THRILLED to get out at the break of dawn to catch the BIG ONE... which we absolutely did not catch...

Tim Myre Landscaping extraordinaire! Okay, well Silas was freaking out with the blower on unless I had eye contact and could tell him "it's okay si-si!" Other than that, he played contentedly with his cool toys and watched Thadd and I plant some bushes. This child loves to be outside. He gets a monster smile whenever we step into the fresh air.

And YAY! He is also becoming like mama this week! I got my first official "He looks like YOU!" today! Well, that's not true. I believe the comment was, "He's the perfect mix of you and Thadd!" Still, this has been nothing near a common saying these last 5 months so I was really proud of myself.
Speaking of 5 months...Silas, are you really that old? What a joy and privilege it has been to have you in our lives. Already we are touched so deeply by your giddy smile, questioning eyebrows, strong will and beautiful spirit. You are amazing. Full of love and life. Thank you for adding so much to my own. I adore you little man.

This I promise you...

We commit to write at least one blog per week.
Hopefully we will write more, but unless we are out of town, there will be a snippet on blogger regarding the crazy, fabulous life in the Wight house, AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK! Go mare.
